Was running updates and it had stuck on the update screen for over an hour so I had to kill the service
I firstly used services.msc on another machine to connect to the server which was updating
the Windiows Installer module was in a stopping state, usually you can just kill it then and there….
I used PSList from the Sysinternals suite to connect to the server at fault see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896682.aspx
you may want to pipe this into a CSV for ease to read…..
Heres a sample below
I then found the exe that was at fault “TrustedInstaller.exe”
I then went onto kill that process using PSKILL
The server then started to restart
This may kill your server !!!
